Delivering energy for what’s NEXT

Who We Are

NextDecade is focused on delivering more than liquefied natural gas (LNG) — we support global energy security, reliability and affordability through the safe and efficient development and operation of LNG infrastructure in the U.S.

LNG has an increasingly important role in global energy markets as countries and regions around the world demand affordable and reliable sources of energy to support growing economies, bolster energy security and electrify developing areas.

NextDecade is competitively positioned to capitalize on growth opportunities in the global LNG market, with eight trains or approximately 48 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG production capacity under construction and in development at the Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) site located in Brownsville, Texas and sufficient space at the site for the development of up to 10 liquefaction trains.

What We Do

RGLNG will source natural gas from abundant U.S. markets, transport it via third-party pipelines to our facility for liquefaction, and then transport the LNG globally using specialized LNG vessels.

We have sold approximately 85% of our LNG production from RGLNG Trains 1 – 5 under long-term, take-or-pay contracts with creditworthy, established global counterparties, including portfolio players and end-users across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. We expect to market remaining unsold volumes through spot, short-term and medium-term contracts.

Rio Grande LNG

We are progressing the construction and development of the RGLNG site to be one of the largest LNG export sites in the world.

Sufficient space exists at the site for the development of up to 10 liquefaction trains. Our site benefits from proximity to major U.S. natural gas basins (Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Shale), access to an uncongested waterway for LNG vessel loading, favorable geotechnical conditions and a location with historically lower weather-related risks.
