Trains 6-8 of RGLNG under construction

Delivering reliable, cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions

Rio Grande LNG Expansion Project

Rio Grande LNG Train 6, LLC (“RGLNG Train 6”) is proposing to site, construct, and operate an expansion of the Rio Grande LNG Terminal, located along the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas (“Rio Grande LNG Expansion Project” or “Project”).

Major Project components include:

  • One liquefaction train (Train 6); and
  • One marine jetty (Berth 3).

The Project facilities on land will be predominantly sited within the footprint of the previously authorized Rio Grande LNG Terminal. Berth 3 will be in an area to be dredged along the Brownsville Ship Channel, located west of the previously authorized two (2) jetties. Berth 3 will consist of two (2) dedicated LNG loading arms, one (1) vapor return arm, and one (1) hybrid arm that could be used for LNG loading or vapor return, as needed.

On November 21, 2025, RGLNG Train 6 submitted a request to initiate the National Environmental Policy Act pre-filing review process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Project.

On December 22, 2025, FERC accepted RGLNG Train 6 into the pre-filing process.

The Public is invited to engage in the FERC process utilizing the Project’s FERC Docket No. PF26-3-000 via FERC’s eLibrary. Additional information regarding the FERC process can be found in the following sources:
