NextDecade

Community relations

NextDecade and every one of our employees is committed to being a good neighbor, listening to and respecting community concerns, supporting local economic development and aligning those efforts with our core values.

Community development and investment

  • Driven by our Community commitments and shaped by our values, we are investing in the Rio Grande Valley’s future by creating thousands of jobs, educating current and future generations, and protecting the environment. We also support the economic vitality of the region by participating in local chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and industry associations.
  • Investment in the community is one of the key elements of NextDecade’s community support. We work closely with local stakeholders to understand the community’s long-term needs and continuously seek out and invest in community-based initiatives that align with our core values.

Community commitments

  • Create thousands of jobs (direct and indirect) during construction and ongoing operations.
  • Maximize local hiring during construction and operations so that at least 35% of workers are regional residents.
  • Support ship channel improvement.
  • Utilize local training facilities and promote safe work practices.
  • Enhance youth education.
  • Reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Mitigate impacts to wetlands and wildlife.
  • Provide solution to Permian Basin flaring.
  • Use renewable energy for our project’s electricity needs.
  • Use ground flares and eliminate the need for tall flare stacks.
  • Use muted color schemes for facility equipment to help minimize visual impacts.
