Specialist, Indirect Procurement

Job Type: Employee, Full-Time

This position will provide supply chain support and tactical execution for strategic sourcing and contracting activities related to a variety of materials and services, with a focus on indirect categories.


The Specialist, Indirect Procurement will be directly accountable for:

  • Assist customers in identifying and describing requirements for a broad array of goods and services, including vendor selection, resourcing of materials, and contract strategy development
  • Issue RFX’s and facilitate vendor selection and/or development of appropriate legal and commercial terms and conditions as well as scorecard criteria and performance metrics
  • Assist in negotiating legal and commercial terms and conditions to achieve optimum results and follow through contract award and execution
  • Perform post contract vendor management / expedite and shorten lead times and proactively eliminate supply chain disruptions
  • Identify cost savings/cost avoidance opportunities and report monthly.
  • Develop key procedures, perform user testing and collect relevant data-sets to support SAP implementation and roll-out of the procurement module
  • Prepare appropriate supply chain and contracting documentation
  • Execute effective, efficient and compliant internal requisitioning and procurement processes using SAP and other tools with the appropriate reporting (vendor maintenance, material master, service master, procurement, contracts)
  • Ensure compliance with industry and company policies and procedures


Minimum education required of the position

  • Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, Materials Management, Operations Management, Engineering or a related field.

Minimum experience required for the position

  • Five (5) years of operations and commercial/procurement experience with an industrial company. Oil and gas industry experience is preferred.
  • Candidate should have experience in purchasing, contracts, materials, services, and logistics, though candidates not being familiar with all of these will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and e-Procurement tools.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Capable of developing and implementing contracting strategies from the initial identification of requirement, market analysis, and approach, tender or negotiation process, formulation and award through to subsequent contract management
  • Understanding of contract terms and conditions, liabilities and indemnities and various compensation models
  • Ability and willingness to deliver supply chain support from “need identification to invoice payment”, including contractual, commercial and SAP transactional tasks.
  • Able to identify the various forms of risk associated with any contract, carry out formal risk assessment whether the risks are financial, commercial, supply or operational and to mitigate the risk were desirable
  • Able to construct performance management criteria and KPI’s appropriate to service and properly incorporate into the contract
  • Ability to develop a detailed financial analysis of all options including lease v buy, total cost of ownership, NPV etc.
  • Team player with strong networking, interpersonal and teamwork/collaboration skills and understanding of the importance of working in cross-functional team.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Must have a proven track record of successful project management with the ability to handle multiple tasks and manage deadlines

Any certifications, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • Working knowledge of and proficiency in Office-based applications (including Excel and Visio)
  • Working knowledge of SAP and e-Procurement tools
  • CPSM – Certified Professional in Supply Management Certification preferable


Travel in this role is anticipated to be around 10%.
